Great to meet you!

Denise Brown, LMHC I earned a Master's degree in Counseling and Community Psychology from Sage Colleges and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with minors in Women’s Study and Psychology from SUNY Plattsburgh. My education background, internships, and externships focused on interpersonal and familial trauma. My approach is “person-centered and strength-based,” helping empower individuals to overcome their trauma, redefine their experiences, selves, and lives, and build resiliency.

My approach to therapy

I use techniques and strategies from solution-focused, cognitive behavioral, existential, family systems, DBT, psychodynamic, narrative therapies, and EMDR. I have 15 years of experience working with families whose lives were impacted by trauma, mental health, domestic violence, and substance abuse. My approach is “person-centered and strength-based,” helping empower individuals to overcome their trauma, redefine their experiences, selves, and lives, and build resiliency. What you can expect from me

From the moment we meet, you can expect to feel understood and supported in achieving your personal treatment goals whether that be to overcome anxiety, increased self-esteem, or reduced negative self-talk and/or management of trauma triggers. I will provide an emotionally safe, judgement free, therapeutic space for you to do the work you need and want to do. We will create a treatment plan that guides our work together and helps you achieve your goals.
