Great to meet you!

Welcome! I'm Dr. Denise Y. Lewis, PhD, LPCC, NCC.

Life can be challenging, and sometimes the weight of responsibilities, relationships, grief, trauma, anxiety, or life transitions can leave you feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about your next steps. My goal is to provide a supportive, compassionate, and culturally responsive space where you can explore your experiences, gain insight, and move toward healing and growth.

As a counselor, educator, and advocate, I bring over 20 years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and communities. I specialize in helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship concerns, life transitions, self-esteem challenges, trauma, and issues related to identity, culture, and faith. I am particularly passionate about supporting African American individuals and families while creating an affirming environment for people from all backgrounds.

My approach to therapy

My counseling approach is collaborative and strengths-based. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you uncover the tools, resilience, and wisdom you already possess. I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and mindfulness practices to help clients develop practical strategies for change while addressing deeper emotional concerns.

What you can expect from me

Clients often describe me as warm, genuine, direct, and encouraging. I strive to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and valued without judgment. For clients who desire it, I also integrate faith and spirituality into the counseling process as a source of strength, healing, and hope.

Seeking help is a courageous step. Whether you are working through a difficult season, healing from past wounds, or simply seeking greater clarity and purpose, I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey.

I look forward to partnering with you as you work toward the life you desire and deserve.
