Great to meet you!

I am Dr. Dennis Rejas Cabrera, the founder of VitalMind Psychiatry. Since 2010, I have dedicated myself to healthcare, culminating in a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree and board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working in diverse mental health settings, which has enriched my understanding and approach to patient care. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), bipolar disorder, eating disorders, providing care for LGBTQ+ mental health, and more.

At Headway, I offer telehealth services across Florida, aiming to make mental health care accessible, inclusive, and patient-centered. My practice focuses on comprehensive evaluations, medication management, and personalized treatment plans to support each patient's unique journey toward mental wellness.

Your mental wellness is my priority.

My approach to therapy

In my practice, I prioritize a collaborative approach, tailoring care to each individual's unique needs. I aim to ensure every patient feels heard, respected, and empowered on their journey to wellness.

What you can expect from me

In our sessions, I provide a personalized approach that combines comprehensive evaluations, precise medication management, and tailored therapeutic interventions to effectively address your unique needs. We'll begin with a thorough assessment to understand your current concerns and medical history, including psychiatric evaluations to diagnose conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders (e.g., generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder), bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, eating disorders, disruptive behavior disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders like ADHD and autism spectrum disorders, among others. Additionally, I conduct a psychosocial assessment to gain insight into the social, environmental, and emotional factors influencing your mental health. If appropriate, I incorporate pharmacological treatments, prescribing medications to address specific symptoms, monitoring their effectiveness, and providing education about potential side effects. I also utilize therapeutic approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) to support your mental health. Our sessions are structured around personalized treatment planning that aligns with your goals and preferences, coupled with ongoing evaluations to adjust the treatment plan as needed, ensuring effective and compassionate care that empowers you toward lasting mental wellness. Together, we'll work toward your health and happiness.
