Great to meet you!

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I take a patient-centered and collaborative approach to care. I believe that mental health treatment should be individualized, practical, and built around the person receiving it.

My role is not simply to identify a diagnosis or prescribe medication. I want to understand your experiences, your concerns, your goals, and how your mental health is affecting your everyday life.

I value honest communication, mutual respect, and trust. You should feel comfortable asking questions, expressing concerns, and participating in decisions about your treatment. My goal is to work alongside you rather than simply tell you what you should do.

I also recognize that seeking mental health care can come with uncertainty or even apprehension. My goal is to make the process as comfortable and straightforward as possible.

My approach to therapy

I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to mental health.

Two people can have the same diagnosis and completely different experiences, circumstances, and treatment needs. That's why I focus on developing an individualized plan based on the whole person.

When medication is appropriate, I believe in thoughtful medication management and open discussion about potential benefits, risks, alternatives, and expectations. Medication can be an important part of treatment, but it is not always the entire answer.

I also believe that meaningful mental health care involves more than managing symptoms. When appropriate, I incorporate education, behavioral strategies, lifestyle considerations, and therapeutic principles into treatment.

The ultimate goal isn't simply to help you feel better today. It's to help you build the stability, understanding, and tools necessary for lasting improvement and sustainable personal growth.

What you can expect from me

Your first appointment is primarily about getting to know you and understanding what brought you to treatment.

We'll discuss your current concerns, symptoms, medical and mental health history, previous treatment experiences, medications, and other factors that may be affecting your well-being. We may also talk about sleep, relationships, work, stress, daily functioning, and the goals you would like to accomplish through treatment.

Depending on your individual needs, we may discuss:

  • Medication management
  • Therapy and behavioral strategies
  • Lifestyle and wellness considerations
  • Coping strategies and education
  • Additional resources or referrals when appropriate
  • A plan for ongoing treatment and follow-up

You should never feel pressured to make a decision simply because you've elected to start treatment.

Your first visit does not have to solve everything. It is an opportunity to establish a foundation, understand your options, and determine what makes sense for you moving forward.
