I’m Derrick Victorino, an Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) providing integrative psychiatric care to adolescents, adults, and older adults throughout Rhode Island.

I specialize in comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management for ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, mood disorders, and substance use disorders, with additional clinical experience in addiction treatment and geriatric psychiatry.

I believe mental health care should be about more than simply managing symptoms. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, build resilience and stability, improve focus, and make meaningful changes that improve your quality of life. Treatment is individualized to who you are, what you're experiencing, and where you want to go.

My approach is holistic, integrative, and centered on understanding you as a whole person. Symptoms and diagnoses matter, but they don't tell your entire story. I want to understand your experiences, relationships, physical health, lifestyle, values, strengths, and the challenges that may be getting in the way of the life you want.

I believe treatment works best when it's something we build together. I'll bring my clinical experience and recommendations, while you bring something equally important... your experience of being you. We'll talk openly about your options, set meaningful goals, and develop a treatment plan that is both realistic and purposeful.

I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, disagreeing, and telling me when something isn't working. My role isn't simply to prescribe medication; it's to help you understand your mental health and find an approach that helps you move forward.

Your first appointment is a relaxed opportunity for me to get to know you as a whole person—your experiences, upbringing, strengths, challenges, fears, and the qualities that make you unique. We’ll discuss what brings you to care, what you hope to change, and what has or hasn’t helped in the past.

Together, we’ll create a clear, purposeful treatment plan with steps that are challenging but attainable for you. When medication is appropriate, we’ll discuss your options and make decisions collaboratively.
