Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Desirae Douglas, a Licensed Professional Counselor with three years of experience dedicated to supporting individuals on their journey to emotional well-being. I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling from Montclair State University, where I developed a strong foundation in therapeutic practices.

I specialize in working with clients facing anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. My focus is on creating a safe and nurturing environment where healing and growth can flourish. I utilize empathy and evidence-based techniques to empower my clients, helping them develop coping strategies and insights that lead to meaningful change.

Together, we can navigate life’s challenges, fostering resilience and a deeper understanding of oneself. I’m here to help you unlock your potential and embrace a more fulfilling life..

My approach to therapy

My greatest strengths lie in my empathetic approach and evidence-based methods. I uniquely blend cognitive behavioral therapy with mindfulness techniques, allowing clients to gain insight while fostering emotional resilience. My extensive training and personal experiences shape my understanding of mental health challenges, enabling me to connect deeply with clients. This combination fosters a supportive space for healing and growth, resulting in meaningful, lasting change.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, which lasts 50 minutes, you can expect a warm and welcoming environment where you’ll feel safe to share your thoughts and feelings. This session is primarily about getting to know each other. I’ll ask you about your background, the challenges you’re facing, and your goals for therapy. Here’s what you can anticipate:

-Open Dialogue: We’ll have a conversation where you can express what brought you to therapy. There are no wrong answers; your feelings and experiences are valid.

-Understanding Your Needs: I’ll ask questions to help me understand your concerns, whether they relate to anxiety, depression, trauma, or self-esteem.

-Goal Setting: Together, we’ll discuss what you hope to achieve through therapy, allowing us to tailor our future sessions to your specific needs.

Explaining the Process: I’ll provide an overview of how therapy works, including the techniques I might use and how we can track your progress.

Creating a Safe Space: My goal is to establish trust and ensure you feel comfortable. You can share as much or as little as you wish.

Confidentiality and Practical Details: I will explain how confidentiality works, go over practical details like fees and cancellation policies, and invite you to ask any questions.

By the end of our first session, you should feel a sense of clarity about the journey ahead and a renewed sense of hope. I’m here to support you every step of the way.
