Great to meet you!

Hello I hope this message finds you well. My name is Desiree Bishop and I am dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based support when life feels most challenging. With a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and over seven years of specialized experience, I blend deep clinical expertise with genuine empathy to help you navigate your healing journey.

My foundational work providing intensive therapy within the correctional and community mental health systems instilled in me a profound respect for human resilience. These experiences taught me to meet every client exactly where they are—entirely free of judgment.

My Specialties

Today, I proudly serve the Horry County community, partnering with individuals to manage complex mental health concerns, including:

  • Mood Disorders: Depression, Anxiety, and Bipolar Disorder
  • Dual Diagnoses & Complex Needs
  • Life Transitions: Grief, loss, and building emotional strength
  • Personality Challenges

My approach to therapy

My practice combines practical, evidence-based therapeutic techniques with highly personalized care. Together, we will develop the tools you need to manage difficult emotions, cultivate resilience, and build a more stable, fulfilling life.

I firmly believe that your past does not dictate your future. I often remind my clients:

“You are still here; that is proof your story isn’t over.”

If you are ready to take the next step and create lasting change, I am here to walk beside you on your journey of growth.

What you can expect from me

Session 1: Intake & Discovery

Our first session is focused on laying a secure foundation and understanding your unique story.

  • The Essentials: We will briefly review the terms of confidentiality, HIPAA practices, and standard consent forms so you feel completely informed about your privacy.
  • The Biopsychosocial Assessment: We will complete a comprehensive assessment to explore the biological, psychological, and social factors currently shaping your life. This helps us understand how your environment, history, and physical well-being connect to your mental health.

Session 2: Goal Setting & Strategy

During our second session, we transition from assessment to action.

  • Together, we will collaborate on your personalized treatment plan.
  • We will define your specific therapeutic goals, objectives, and evidence-based interventions tailored to what you want to achieve.

Moving Forward: Your Journey of Self-Discovery

Once our roadmap is established, the real work begins. In the sessions that follow, we will dive deep into your journey of self-discovery, equipping you with practical tools to navigate difficult emotions, break old patterns, and build a more fulfilling life.
