Great to meet you!

I’m Desiree Mayo, LPC, a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in somatic therapy, trauma, and panic disorders. I provide virtual therapy to individuals aged 10 and older across Arizona through Calm Psych. My approach is client-centered, trauma-informed, and holistic, focusing on the mind-body connection to promote healing from anxiety, PTSD, and stress-related issues.

I integrate evidence-based treatments including Somatic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. I’m passionate about supporting clients through life’s most challenging moments with empathy, authenticity, and a belief in every person’s capacity for growth.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed, with a strong focus on the mind-body connection. I believe healing happens when clients feel safe, heard, and empowered, so I create a supportive, non-judgmental space where we can explore your experiences together.

I tailor each session to your unique needs using evidence-based methods such as Somatic Therapy, CBT, DBT, EMDR, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. This allows us to address both the emotional and physical impact of stress, trauma, anxiety, and life challenges. My goal is to help you build resilience, develop effective coping skills, and move toward lasting emotional wellness.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect to leave sessions feeling heard, supported, and equipped with practical tools to manage challenges in their daily lives. Together, we work toward goals such as reducing anxiety and panic symptoms, processing trauma, improving emotional regulation, and building healthier thought patterns and relationships.

I create a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment where you can explore difficult experiences at your own pace. Over time, clients often notice an increased sense of calm, confidence, and self-awareness, along with a stronger ability to cope with life’s stressors and make meaningful changes.
