Great to meet you!

Hello, and welcome. I'm Desiree Peters a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a passion for supporting individuals through life’s most difficult moments. I specialize in working with adults facing anxiety, depression, and trauma, helping them find relief and reconnect with a sense of purpose and well-being.

I earned my Masters of Social Work from Fordham University and have received additional training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Exposure Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of where to begin, I’m here to walk alongside you as you navigate the path forward.

A bit about my approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, strengths-based and dynamic. I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental space where we can explore what’s happening in the present and, when helpful, look deeper into the past. Through both insight and action we can work together to make meaningful change while honoring the complexity of each person’s story.

What you can expect from our first session

I primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and various evidence based approaches. My style is flexible and integrative, drawing from multiple therapeutic models to best support your individual needs. In our first session, we will explore your history and what has brought you to therapy, setting the foundation for a collaborative and personalized treatment plan.

Our work may include learning practical coping skills to manage intense emotions, reduce stress, and build emotional resilience. We may also focus on rebuilding healthy boundaries by exploring where they may have been challenged in the past and developing new ways to protect your well-being and relationships. Together, we will create a space that supports healing, growth, and meaningful change.
