Great to meet you!

I’m Destinee, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in NYC. I work with adults navigating anxiety, relationship concerns, life transitions, self-doubt, and emotional overwhelm. Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable people who find themselves overthinking, questioning their choices, struggling with boundaries, or feeling disconnected from what they truly want. My style is warm, inquisitive, and solution-oriented. I help clients understand the patterns shaping their thoughts, relationships, and decisions while also developing practical ways to create meaningful change. Together, we may explore themes such as attachment, self-worth, family dynamics, communication, identity, and the expectations you’ve learned to carry. My goal is to create a space where you can be honest, feel understood, and gain greater clarity and confidence in how you want to move through your life and relationships.

My approach to therapy

My approach is integrative, relational, and grounded in evidence-based practice. I draw from CBT, attachment-based and psychodynamic approaches, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy, tailoring our work to your individual needs and goals. I view therapy as a collaborative and active process. Together, we’ll explore the thoughts, emotions, relationship patterns, and past experiences that may be shaping how you respond in the present, while also identifying practical ways to create change. I aim to balance insight with action — helping you better understand yourself while building the confidence, skills, and clarity to make choices that feel more aligned with who you are and what you want.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know what brings you to therapy, what’s been feeling difficult, and what you hope will be different. I’ll ask questions about your current concerns, relationships, stressors, and relevant history so we can begin to understand the patterns that may be contributing to what you’re experiencing. You don’t need to come in with everything figured out, and there’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready for. My goal is for the first session to feel collaborative, comfortable, and purposeful. By the end, we’ll have a clearer sense of what you’d like to work on and how we can approach therapy in a way that feels useful and supportive to you.
