Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Devan, and I'm excited to meet you! I have four years of experience working in mental health and two years in academic counseling. I have a Master of Social Work from the University of Utah, and I'm based out South Jordan, Utah. I enjoy spending my free time with my cat, reading, or cooking and baking.

Some areas of interest for my practice are LGBTQ, Trans Health Care, Polyamory/ENM, Neurodivergence, Faith Transitions, Religious Trauma, and Body Image and Intuitive Eating. I have completed over 35 credit hours of continuing education on these topics.

My approach to therapy

I look at each client as the expert of their own life. My role is to support you as you explore your experiences and how you connect to your emotions.

I take an integrative approach that draws from a variety of different therapies:

  • Feminist Multicultural Therapy
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Somatic Experiencing
  • EMDR (and yes, it can be effective over telehealth!)

I believe that therapy is inherently political because mental health is greatly affected by systemic injustices. Like, how can we be expected to regulate our nervous system if we don't have stable housing or access to healthcare? The anxiety and depression that you experience as a result of oppressive systems aren't just in your head. Together, we can explore how power dynamics and social context impact your mental health.

What you can expect from me

My clients can expect to leave my office feeling more connected with themselves and their emotions. They'll experience a boost of self-compassion and feel empowered to cope with challenges. The changes they implement will be from a place of self-love, rather than shame.
