Devon Tart

I am a licensed therapist based in the New Haven area. I have 5 years of clinical experience working with adolescents with behavioral challenges in a residential setting for 2.5 years and adults with dually diagnosed mental health and substance use disorders in outpatient setting for another 2.5 years. I also have some experience from clinical internship working with adolescents and adults with eating disorder in IOP and PHP setting. In each setting, services provided may have emphasized particular components of wellness at times. At the same time patients in each setting presented with varied challenges and barriers that would often compound and require nuanced and individualized approaches to treatment. As a provider I am committed to bringing all of my clinical experience and an open mind to each session to work with every individual in all of their uniqueness.

During session, I will offer a broad and collaborative exploration of circumstances and relate items of note to goals and plans for treatment set during previous sessions. I will invite the patient to lead that exploration at times, and I will also lead when appropriate. At times I may encourage clients to do activities outside of session and return to discuss information gathered or outcomes of those activities.

Initial sessions will generally be spent discussing the reasons related to seeking services, building familiarity and setting goals for treatment.
