Great to meet you!

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, U.S. Army combat veteran, and behavioral health professional with over 15 years of experience helping individuals navigate some of life's most challenging circumstances.

My approach to therapy is direct, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that meaningful change requires more than simply talking about problems. It requires understanding ourselves, challenging patterns that no longer serve us, and developing practical strategies to move forward.

Throughout my career, I've worked extensively with veterans, individuals experiencing trauma, substance use challenges, relationship difficulties, and major life transitions. My background includes clinical practice, behavioral health leadership, and supporting individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

I understand that seeking therapy isn't always easy, particularly when you've spent much of your life being the person everyone else depends on. My goal is to create a space where you can be yourself, speak openly without judgment, and do the meaningful work necessary to build the life you want.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should be more than a place to talk about your problems. It should be a space where you gain clarity, challenge limiting beliefs, develop practical tools, and begin making meaningful changes in your life.

My therapeutic style is authentic, collaborative, and direct. I don't believe in a one size fits all approach, and I recognize that your experiences, cultural background, relationships, and personal values all influence how you navigate the world.

I draw from evidence based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and trauma informed care. Together, we'll explore the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while identifying patterns that may be keeping you stuck.

I'll listen without judgment, but I'll also challenge you when necessary. I believe growth often requires uncomfortable conversations, accountability, and a willingness to see things from a different perspective.

Ultimately, my goal isn't to keep you in therapy indefinitely. It's to help you develop the insight, confidence, and skills to navigate life's challenges independently. Therapy should empower you to move forward, not make you dependent on the process.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is about understanding where you are, what brought you to therapy, and what we can realistically accomplish together.

We'll start with a brief introduction, review confidentiality and what you can expect from therapy, and discuss any questions you have about the process. From there, we'll explore your current concerns, relevant personal history, relationships, stressors, and how these challenges are affecting your everyday life.

I'll ask questions to better understand what's working, what's not, and what you've already tried. We'll identify your strengths, discuss what you would like to change, and begin establishing specific, achievable treatment goals.

Before we finish, we'll review what we've discussed, identify our initial priorities, and outline practical next steps. When appropriate, you may leave with a strategy or exercise to begin using between sessions.

My goal is for you to leave your first appointment feeling heard, understanding what we're working toward, and having a clear sense of what comes next. We won't solve everything in one session, but we can establish a meaningful direction from day one.
