Great to meet you!

About Dhana Clarkson, LMHC

I am a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor (License #MH11441) with over 15 years of professional counseling experience. I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling from Webster University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Central Florida. Over the years, I have worked with adults, couples, families, and groups in both community-based and outpatient treatment settings.

Therapy with me is a space of honesty, respect, and encouragement. I strive to create an environment where you feel seen, heard, and supported as you work toward greater self-awareness, healing, and empowerment. My goal is to help you develop effective coping tools, gain insight into unhelpful patterns, and nurture the confidence to make positive, lasting change.

I often assign reflective or skill-building exercises between sessions to help strengthen the progress made in therapy. These may include journaling, mindfulness practices, or practical tools to apply what you’ve learned to real-life situations.

It takes courage to reach out for support, and I honor that step. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, or spiritual questions, my commitment is to walk alongside you with compassion, clarity, and faith.

As a Christian counselor, I am open to integrating spiritual and biblical principles into therapy upon request. I believe that healing is not only about managing symptoms but also about restoring hope, purpose, and alignment with your values and faith.

Different individuals need different things. Using my clinical training, professional experience, and genuine care, I tailor the therapeutic process to meet your unique needs—helping you nourish your mind, empower your life, and awaken your soul.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is holistic, compassionate, and collaborative. I believe that healing begins when we look at the whole person: mind, body, and spirit and not just the symptoms. Every individual’s story is unique, and so is the path to growth. My role is to walk alongside you, helping you discover your strengths, heal from the past, and create meaningful change in your life.

I draw from several evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness-Based Practices, and when desired, Faith-Based Counseling. This integrative style allows me to tailor each session to your specific needs, personality, and goals rather than using a one-size-fits-all model.

Therapy with me is both insight-oriented and action-focused. We explore the “why” behind your thoughts and behaviors while also developing practical tools to help you manage emotions, improve communication, and build healthier relationships. You’ll learn strategies to challenge negative thought patterns, increase emotional awareness, and respond to life’s stressors with greater balance and resilience.

I view the therapeutic relationship as a collaboration rooted in respect, honesty, and empowerment. You are the expert on your life, and my role is to help you see possibilities and potential where you may have only seen problems. I often assign reflective activities, mindfulness tools, or journaling prompts between sessions to support your growth beyond the therapy room.

For clients who wish to integrate spirituality, I offer a faith-based perspective, inviting biblical principles, prayer, and spiritual insight into the process when appropriate. I believe that true healing involves aligning mind, heart, and spirit, nurturing not only emotional well-being but also a sense of peace and purpose.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is all about you: your story, your goals, and what brings you to therapy. It’s a safe, welcoming space where we begin to build trust and understanding. During this session, we’ll explore what’s been going on in your life, what you hope to gain from therapy, and what has or hasn’t worked for you in the past.

I’ll ask questions to help me get a clear sense of your background, current concerns, and any patterns or challenges you’ve noticed. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions, share expectations, and discuss what feels most important for you right now.

Together, we’ll begin identifying your goals for therapy and start crafting a plan tailored to your individual needs. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and paced at your comfort level — there’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready to.

You can expect a mix of reflection, active listening, and gentle guidance, with practical tools you can begin using right away. I often offer insights, coping strategies, or small steps to help you start feeling supported and empowered from the very first session.

Most importantly, our time together is confidential and judgment-free. My role is to walk alongside you as we work toward healing, clarity, and lasting growth, one step at a time.
