Great to meet you!

As your therapist, my highest goal is to be your worthy listener and to support you in reaching your personal goals. Throughout our time together, good two-way communication about you and your personal goals will move us towards the progress you want. Together we can do many good things!

In 23+ years as a psychotherapist, those I've worked with people who are struggling with relationships. Or have suffered an upset that has not gone away on its own. Also mood issues, be it anxiety, depression or both, that interfere with living. Persistent, stubborn thoughts and reactions. Workplace stress. Sleep – a key to health and improved mood. I’ve been an empathic partner to clients of many ethnic and racial backgrounds, military service members and veterans, and in addition, people from nearly every continent.

My approach to therapy

My approach is centered on you, a unique individual, my client. My professional education and interests have given me knowledge of many therapeutic resources. In addition, I've sought out specialized training in cognitive behavioral (CBT) which usually focuses on improved coping skills; dialectical behavior (DBT) to deepen ability to handle big thoughts and emotions; and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapies (EMDR) which can be applied for trauma as well as other persistent issues. I've used EMDR with clients effectively for over 20 years. I am a trauma-informed therapist. In our conversations, I will explain my suggested treatment and methods, hopefully, to your satisfaction. Feel free to ask questions.

What you can expect from me

Therapy time is a special personal priority. I certainly want you to know and feel that. At our first video session, we’ll have about 50 minutes to get acquainted, discuss your concerns, symptoms, reasons and hopes for therapy. Quite naturally, you have a point of view, thoughts, and emotions about your life. Perhaps sometimes feeling overloaded, confused, stuck, or feeling more emotion – or numbness – than you want. As I listen, I'll check with you to be sure that I'm understanding you as you intend. While we talk, I’ll ask you to collaborate with me and clarify for me. We need to be "on the same page," so to speak. It matters to our success and to me that you to feel secure, safe, and understood. I may suggest beginning steps for you.

What do you hope to achieve in therapy? I am firmly committed to doing my best for you each time we meet. You are welcome here. Let’s Begin!
