My approach to therapy

Substance use disorders, eating disorders, & other destructive behaviors are often used as a way to cope with emotional distress and/or avoid pain. Dr. Monsour helps individuals heal by being curious & compassionate about the destructive behaviors to discover what purpose they serve. This often looks like assessing biological & social factors, healing unresolved trauma, grief, attachment issues, and learning new coping skills. Dr. Monsour utilizes a collaborative & holistic approach to treatment; Dr. Monsour is educated and trained in a wide range of evidence-based treatment approaches in order to individualize treatment to the client.
