Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Diana Tabares-Avila, a compassionate therapist dedicated to helping individuals feel supported, understood, and empowered through life’s challenges. I earned my undergraduate education at University of Nevada, Reno and have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families from diverse backgrounds.

I believe healing happens in safe and trusting relationships. Clients often describe me as patient, caring, and easy to talk to. I take pride in creating a space where people feel seen, heard, and respected without judgment. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship stress, parenting concerns, or major life transitions, I aim to help you feel less alone and more confident in moving forward.

I also value ongoing growth as a clinician and continue expanding my knowledge so I can provide thoughtful, evidence-based care tailored to each client’s needs.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and individualized. I understand that no two people are the same, so I work to meet each client where they are emotionally and practically. Together, we identify goals, understand patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and build tools that create lasting change.

I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), play therapy techniques, and strengths-based interventions. I also bring a holistic lens, recognizing that mental health is connected to relationships, culture, stress, identity, and life experiences.

In sessions, I focus on helping clients improve emotional regulation, communication, self-esteem, coping skills, and healthier relationships. My style is supportive, engaged, and practical while also making room for deeper healing.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin building a comfortable therapeutic relationship. I know starting therapy can feel vulnerable, so I aim to create a calm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment where you can share at your own pace.

During the first session, we will talk about what brings you to therapy, current stressors, personal history, strengths, and what goals you hope to accomplish. I’ll also answer any questions you have about the therapy process.

By the end of the session, clients often leave feeling heard, clearer about next steps, and hopeful that change is possible. My goal is for you to feel supported from the very beginning.
