Great to meet you!

Welcome to my page. I am so glad you are taking the first step towards your goals. I love to help people achieve their Therapy goals in order to build a higher quality of life that includes improving relationships, confidence, work/life balance, and joy. My education background is a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice and Sociology and then a Master's in Clinical Social Work. I became a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in 2012 after 3 years of extensive supervision and refining my clinical skills. I have extensive continuing education and experience working with crime victims, people navigating loss, anxiety, mood disorders, self-harm, and other concerns that impacts a person's ability to live their life fully and authentically. For the last 10 years, one of my specialty areas, includes working with Adults with Developmental Disabilities including writing comprehensive behavior plans to support their goals of independence and working with them in Therapy sessions to add skills to their lives. I look forward to talking with you and figuring out together how to help you achieve your goals that you deserve.

My approach to therapy

I believe that when an individual chooses to seek out Mental Health Therapy for themselves or a loved one, they are putting themselves in a brave and vulnerable position to give trust to someone they may have never met before. I do not expect you to trust immediately, but I will work to earn trust and build a relationship where you are able to be honest with yourself and have the confidence to share your goals and work towards them in a collaborative manner. I believe the relationship between Therapist and Client to be the most important factor in a successful Therapeutic relationship. I do not pretend to know you better than you know yourself. I bring knowledge and skills of being a Mental Health Therapist for over 15 years and will use Evidence Based Therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and others combined with a Humanistic and Relationship Based approach. I often see people apologize when they cry, yell, express anger or other uncomfortable emotions in session, but I promise to provide a safe environment for you to be able to express these without judgement. All your emotions are valid and normal based on your life experience.

What you can expect from me

During the first session we will be covering some necessary paperwork and some intake questionnaires to get a comprehensive understanding of what is bring you and/or your loved one to me. You get to choose what information you are comfortable sharing during this first session. We will cover basic information related to therapy practices, scheduling, how to reach me, and any other questions you may have. We will discuss goals to work on in the future and then hopefully get started to work towards your goals and building yourself a life that you feel is worth living, is joyful, and when it is difficult the confidence to move through it.
