Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker focused on working with adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and serious illness. I also have experience assisting older adults in both institutional and community settings, including hospice. I am particularly interested in issues experienced during life transitions, such as career changes, estrangements from family, caring for aging parents, and death of friends and family.

My approach to therapy

I employ many different modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EMDR and Psychodynamic theory. I am willing to engage a Client in an exploration of their questions, assumptions and mental processes and am also committed to delving deep into the trenches of emotional history to identify and process painful and problematic memories.

What you can expect from me

I view psychotherapy as a collaborative effort. Many people are stranded because they lack adequate skills for recognizing, processing, managing and changing difficult emotions and behaviors. I bring a critical approach that recognizes the reality and validity of emotions while also challenging the thoughts and beliefs that have lead to and keep those problematic emotions and behaviors in place. I believe in guiding my clients towards change and strive to avoid letting them flounder.
