Great to meet you!

Most people who find me are dealing with something that doesn't fit neatly into what they think therapy is for, whether that's substance use, legal involvement, or behaviors that have started costing them things they actually care about. I'm Diego, a bilingual counselor offering sessions in English and Spanish, and I work with adolescents, adults, and seniors navigating substance use, trauma, anxiety, and the kinds of decisions and patterns that are hard to break alone. I have specific experience working alongside people navigating legal systems and situations with real consequences, and I approach that work the same way I approach everything else: directly, practically, and without judgment.

My approach to therapy

I'm not passive in sessions. I'll ask questions, name what I'm noticing, and help connect your behaviors to their outcomes so the work stays grounded in your actual life. What we're building toward is a clearer picture of your patterns, especially around how you make decisions, react under stress, and manage impulses, and then better ways to respond. I focus on skills you can actually use outside of sessions, not just insight. I understand that change is hard, and I'm comfortable holding you accountable to your goals while still being in your corner. The people who tend to do well with me want someone who will be direct with them and help them move forward.

What you can expect from me

Our first session covers what brought you here, any relevant background, and what you actually want from this. I'll be engaged and asking questions from the start, not just taking notes. We'll also use that time to begin setting goals: practical, realistic ones focused on the changes you want to see in your everyday life. If that sounds like the kind of work you're ready for, reach out.
