Great to meet you!

Sometimes life can feel heavy for so long that you start wondering if this is simply how things are going to be. You may be grieving someone you love, constantly worrying, feeling disconnected or depressed, or carrying a painful experience that still affects how you react, trust, and connect with others. Maybe stress has created distance in your relationship or family, or alcohol or substances have become the easiest way to quiet everything you’re feeling. For more than 30 years, I’ve helped individuals and couples make sense of difficult seasons and find healthier ways forward. You don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out, and you don’t have to carry it all by yourself.

My approach to therapy

We’ll focus on what’s happening in your real life and what can actually help things feel different. That might mean learning what to do when anxiety starts taking over, understanding why certain situations trigger memories or intense reactions, finding healthier ways to cope instead of drinking or using substances, or rebuilding communication with your partner or family. We’ll look at the thoughts and patterns keeping you stuck while also recognizing the strengths that have helped you make it this far. If trauma is part of your story, we’ll address it at a pace that feels manageable rather than pushing you to talk about painful experiences before you’re ready. My goal is to help you leave with practical ways to handle challenges differently and create meaningful changes that continue outside of our conversations.

What you can expect from me

You don’t need to walk into your first session knowing exactly what to say or how to explain everything you’re feeling. We’ll start with what has been hardest lately, whether that’s grief, anxiety, family conflict, relationship problems, drinking or substance use, painful memories, or simply feeling exhausted from trying to hold everything together. I’ll ask questions to understand how these challenges are affecting your everyday life and what you most want to change. For couples, we’ll make space for both people to feel heard rather than focusing on who is right or wrong. My goal is for you to leave feeling understood, comfortable, and clear about what we can begin working on together.
