Dr. Velu is a double board certified Child & Adolescent / Adult Psychiatrist in New York City. He is currently an Attending Physician at NYC Health + Hospitals and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

My approach to therapy

Dr. Velu provides prompt scheduling, is available between visits for your phone calls, emails, and offers treatment over video software & phone sessions. All consultations are offered as a virtual telepsychiatry sessions. For appointment, please leave a detailed message with your full name, age, and services you are seeking.

What you can expect from me

Screening Phone Call: 5-10 minutes to assess what treatment you are seeking. (This is not the appointment)


Intake Visit - 45 minutes- 1 hour: Diagnostic Assessment of current symptoms, past history, and treatment.


Follow Up Visits: 30 minutes. At minimum required every 3 months to maintain open chart. For controlled substance refills, an appointment is required for every refill.


Please note, no shows / late cancellation (within 24 hours) may result in a penalty fee.
