Great to meet you!

I am a military spouse and military brat, and seasoned therapist who recognizes the value of each individual and does so with intention. My desire is to allow each individual to be heard and by creating a warm, authentic relationship.

I am an LCSW that specializes in crisis intervention, trauma, end of life care, anxiety and depression through the provision of evidence based therapies and empathetic support. I work with children ages 7-12, adults, and families. I use an eclectic blend of the humanistic approach in conjunction with CBT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and strength based approaches.

I received my Masters of Social Work from the University of Southern California. I spent the last 11 years working for the department of Veteran Affairs as a, Crisis interventionist, Mental Health Social worker, Geriatric Social worker, and providing end of life care.

During my free time , I enjoy time with my grandchildren, raise chickens and garden. My latest adventure is learning more about the healing properties of my herbal garden. Until recently I sat on the board of the SC chapter of the Sierra club, to save the planet for the next generation. I love nature , old trees, green fields , chilly days, painting, canning and sewing.

My approach to therapy

Because no two individuals are the same. Because of those individual traits I tend to take a more eclectic approach that integrates mindfulness with evidence-based techniques like Cognitive Based Therapy (CBT). Empathetic authenticity is at the core of who I am as a therapist. Each session is tailored to meet your needs and goals. I tend to lean toward a more Humanistic approach, and I believe therapy is most effective if we work together as members of a team. I strive to provide a warm nonjudgmental down to earth environment in which you will feel heard and understood. I believe we all have the resources to grow and to heal and my endeavor is to walk that journey with you. Using the tools at hand you can become more resilient thereby fostering the lasting change you seek. Our relationship is a partnership and as a team we will identify your strengths, overcome challenges, and ultimately emerging victorious.

What you can expect from me

Getting to know you. What brought you to therapy, your current concerns, symptoms and how they impact your life on a day to day basis.? We will discuss relevant personal history, past mental heath treatments, discuss your likes and dislikes as it pertained to therapeutic experiences. And set goals for working as a team. We are simply going to talk and you determine how much you share. Confidentiality is the cornerstone of our relationship with one exception. We will work together and have a two way exchange of ideas thoughts and goals.
