Great to meet you!

Life can be challenging, especially when you're expected to remain strong, have everything figured out, and carry responsibilities that others may never see. I believe everyone deserves a safe space where they can be heard, understood, supported, and encouraged to grow without fear of judgment.

My name is Dominick Pitts, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Washington, DC. My professional experience includes supporting children, adolescents, and families as they navigate emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. I am passionate about helping individuals build emotional resilience, strengthen relationships, develop healthy coping skills, and discover a greater sense of purpose.

I have a particular passion for working with adult men and young men who have been taught to suppress their emotions, carry their struggles silently, or believe that vulnerability is a weakness. I believe true strength includes having the courage to acknowledge our challenges, seek support, and pursue personal growth.

My Christian faith is an important part of who I am and influences the compassion, integrity, and commitment to service that I bring to my work. I believe every person has inherent worth and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. While I welcome opportunities to integrate faith into therapy for those who desire it, my practice remains inclusive and welcoming to individuals from all walks of life.

Whether you're navigating anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, emotional struggles, or a difficult season of life, my goal is to help you feel supported, empowered, and equipped to move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and peace.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is compassionate, authentic, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I believe meaningful healing begins when individuals feel safe enough to be themselves, honest enough to explore difficult emotions, and empowered enough to make meaningful changes.

I recognize that our life experiences, family dynamics, cultural backgrounds, relationships, and personal beliefs all influence how we view ourselves and navigate the world. I work collaboratively with clients to identify unhelpful patterns, develop healthier ways of thinking, strengthen coping strategies, and create realistic goals for personal growth.

My therapeutic approach is strengths-based and person-centered, with an emphasis on emotional awareness, accountability, practical coping skills, and building resilience. I strive to balance empathy with gentle challenges that encourage reflection and growth.

I also believe that faith and mental health can complement one another. For clients who desire faith-informed counseling, I welcome the opportunity to incorporate Christian values, spiritual reflection, and biblical principles into our work while maintaining an ethical, evidence-based therapeutic foundation. Faith is never imposed, and every client's beliefs, values, and personal journey are respected.

Ultimately, my goal is to help you navigate life's challenges while developing a healthier relationship with yourself, others, and the things that give your life meaning.

What you can expect from me

When working with me, you can expect a welcoming, judgment-free environment where you are encouraged to show up as your authentic self. You don't have to have all the answers or pretend that everything is okay. Therapy is a place where we can explore life's challenges honestly and work together toward meaningful change.

Our sessions will focus on understanding your experiences, identifying your strengths, developing practical tools, and addressing the emotional or relational challenges that may be preventing you from moving forward.

I believe growth is a journey that requires patience, reflection, courage, and grace. Some sessions may involve difficult conversations, while others may focus on celebrating progress, discovering new perspectives, and recognizing strengths you may have overlooked.

For individuals who find strength in their faith, we can explore how their spiritual beliefs support healing, hope, forgiveness, and personal growth.

My hope is that you leave our sessions feeling more emotionally equipped, confident, self-aware, and intentional about the direction of your life.

You may not be able to change every circumstance you face, but you can develop the tools, perspective, and resilience needed to navigate those circumstances with greater strength and peace.
