Great to meet you!

I want you to feel confident, competent and excited about your life! With over 30 years of experience as a psychologist, both in the US and abroad, I have studied strengths-based coaching, mind-body-spirit medicine, mindfulness, attachment science and indigenous approaches to healing. This allows me to offer my clients a broad range of approaches to overcome limiting beliefs and roles, develop a strong sense of self and build meaningful relationships. Check my website: www.drdonnacarpenter.com.

My approach to therapy

My first goal is to establish a sense of trust and safety, without which no other work is possible. I want to understand what brought you to therapy at this point in time and what your goals are for our work together. We will work to understand the effects of past experiences and traumas on your life today and consider strategies for changing how you think, feel and act. This will require an attitude of curiosity and willingness to experiment a bit.

What you can expect from me

My goal is that you walk away from your first session (or any session) feeling a sense of hope and motivation. I want you to feel that your concerns were heard and have a better understanding of the causes of your distress. With the information we gather in that first session, we will build a plan to help you make progress toward your goals as quickly as possible. As our work continues, we will make adjustments as needed until you feel you have achieved your goals.
