I am licensed Addiction Counselor and Social Worker for over 20 years. My approach to therapy is one of autonomy, encouragement, and self-discovery for each client. With an empathetic approach to therapy, I encourage a mindful respect, listening, and discovery within the therapeutic relationship. Growth, change and healing are some the many topics that will be explored in session.
As an Addiction Specialist you will learn coping skills that can assist in managing feelings that can sometime lead to lapses in substance use. We will identify triggers that lead to continue use and abuse of substances. When triggers are identified in session, you will learn healthy ways of coping with the identified triggers and adopt a healthier way of reacting to those triggers.
The environment created in session will be of autonomy and empathy and will foster an open-minded conversation. You as the client, will take away skills that can assist in day-to-day life and will learn how to effectively deal life stressors in a healthy manner and will give the client positive outcomes in their day-to-day life. The client will learn to live life on life's terms without the use of a substance or an addictive behavior to cope.
