Great to meet you!

My name is Donna Richards, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 25 years of professional experience. I obtained my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Santa Barbara, which has equipped me with a solid foundation in therapeutic practices.

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work in various areas of the therapy field. In recent years, I have concentrated on working with couples, families women as well as addressing issues related to anxiety, depression trauma and addiction. Additionally, I specialize in early childhood therapy, offering valuable support and counseling for parents and a play based/social-emotional modality for young children.

I am committed to fostering positive change and enhancing the well-being of my clients through tailored therapeutic approaches. I enjoy supporting clients as they discover a path that is unique to them and that creates connections in relationships and community.

My approach to therapy

I take a humanistic approach to building relationships and establishing the trust necessary to explore with clients their experiences, inner most feelings and dreams for the future. I enjoy providing various methods of support for my clients, including EMDR, experiential techniques, mindfulness, and visualization. Each session is tailored to meet the individual needs and goals of the client. I work with psychodynamic theory to explore and uncover influences on an individual's life, transpersonal therapies that allow us to see the bigger picture and creative techniques to increase expression of self.

What you can expect from me

After a session, clients often leave with fresh insights and exciting new ideas that can transform their thinking and bring new perspectives to their lives and relationships. My clients get a deep sense of being heard and understood which I believe opens up the intuition to their decision-making and relationship challenges. This awareness they develops applies to their everyday lives and creates opportunities to make new and different choices increasing opportunities for healing to occur.
