Great to meet you!

I have taken my educational training at SUNY Stony Brook, New York which a challenging and rigorous program preparing me to work with diverse populations. Aside from psychology I studied philosophy and comparative religion for a full repertoire to insight to work with many different types of therapy. I began my work in medical social work for 5 years; wanting to know the physiological impact on disease on mental health. After that I was the Director of an Employee Assistance Program on Long Island during the 9-11 destruction of the World Trade Center, providing critical incident stress support to first responders. That incident led me to go full time into private practice where I could better serve those affected by the attack. In time I decided to move to the beautiful mountains of Tennessee where I worked for 5 years providing addiction services to impoverished people in Knoxville and in the jail systems of various rural counties. The aforementioned experiences enriched my life immensely. After a full private practice in Kodak, Tennessee I have moved to Knoxville Tennessee where I am providing online therapy. I love my work and am dedicated to helping my clients succeed.

My approach to therapy

My primary clinical paradigm if object relations therapy. In this modality it is assumed that people have gone into life and crashed upon a few rocks as they try to negotiate the rivers of existence. My office, physical for virtual will ALWAYS be a warm, safe, reassuring space for people to share their pain, hopes and desires. That being said I use the tools of motivational interviewing, family systems therapy, inner child addiction treatment, cognitive behavioral therapy, Gestalt work and psychodynamic theories.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will be getting to know each other. You tell me what you feel, hope and desire for outcome. I will listen attentively trying to really get to know you in depth. It is your journey and I want it to be spectacular for you. Once you have explained to me why you are seeking therapy and told your story, I will begin to probe and ask question to more fully understand your needs. We will arrive at treatment goals and I will help you achieve your hopes and dreams
