Great to meet you!

Greetings! My name is Doris and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who uses a strengths-based approach to treat clients dealing with depression, anxiety, life transitions, adoption, grief/loss, and relationship issues. I believe clients are the experts on themselves and I have worked collaboratively with adolescents and adults of all ages to overcome challenges. I have a wide range of experience including teaching social work students in higher education, leading anger management and batterers intervention groups, and training mental health clinicians in providing therapeutic services to clients impacted by foster care and adoption.

I completed my Master of Social Work degree with a mental health concentration from Virginia Commonwealth University. I pride myself on being warm, accepting, and compassionate and I care deeply about my clients and their success. I use an eclectic/integrated and holistic approach, incorporating mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and expressive arts.

There are times in everyone's life when additional support is helpful. I am eager to work with you toward receiving the support you need. I work with teens and adults of all ages and offer counseling in person and through telehealth.

My approach to therapy

I believe in meeting my clients where they are and creating a plan that honors their unique needs. We will work collaboratively toward your goals finding strategies that work for you.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I will work to create an accepting, safe space for you honoring the courage it can take to schedule a first session. The first session is also an opportunity to meet me and learn about my therapeutic process toward building a trusting therapeutic relationship.
