Great to meet you!

My name is Dorothy Ndavi. I earned my Master of Arts degree in Counseling from MidAmerica Nazarene University, with an emphasis in marriage, couple, and family counseling. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Kansas and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families facing a variety of mental health concerns.

My approach to therapy

My approach to counseling is grounded in attachment-based, experiential, and emotion-focused theories, emphasizing a relational framework that builds connection. I value trust, authenticity, and genuine engagement as foundations for growth and transformation. I integrate evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Existential therapy, and EMDR, tailoring treatment to each client’s unique needs and goals.

I hold that hope is inherent in each individual and can be strengthened through a healthy, compassionate therapeutic relationship. I recognize the courage required to explore and process complex or painful experiences. I provide an empathic, safe, and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment that supports the integration of the emotional, relational, cultural, and spiritual dimensions of the self—fostering movement toward greater wholeness.

I view Faith and spirituality as an important dimension of human identity and integrate them into counseling in a client-led manner when they align with the client’s values and treatment goals. I work with individuals, couples, and families experiencing trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, relational distress, and related concerns.

I recognize that culture and lived experience influence how distress is defined, expressed, and healed. I approach therapy with cultural humility, honoring each client as the expert of their own experience while integrating cultural, socioeconomic, and relational contexts into care.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a time for us to get to know one another and begin creating a safe, supportive space for your healing journey. We will talk about what brings you to counseling, explore your concerns and goals, and discuss what you hope to gain from therapy. You can expect a compassionate, collaborative approach where you are encouraged to move to a space that feels comfortable for you.
