Doug Aucoin

My name is Doug Aucoin, and I am an LCSW who specializes in working with individual adult and senior clients who struggle with workplace stress and career transition issues, anxiety and mood concerns, grief and loss issues, low self-esteem, LGBTQ+ issues, relationship and men's issues, or challenges with life transitions. I have helped hundreds of clients in San Diego for the last 20+ years, and I can help you too. I’ve worked in community mental health, hospice, psychiatric hospitals, substance abuse and seniors’ programs.

I accept multiple insurances through Headway and Alma, and private pay. My practice does not yet accept Medicare or Medicare Advantage plans, but please reach out to me with any questions. If you contact me, I will get back to you.

I use an eclectic approach, incorporating proven therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral, Humanistic, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness-Based Therapies, among others. We'll learn how to reframe negative into positive thinking, and how to use many tools available to help you feel better.

Even if you are currently struggling, change is possible. My clients consistently report that they feel heard, cared for, and supported as they work towards addressing the difficult issues that brought them to therapy. Moving towards recovery and growth is often not easy but feeling better matters.

We begin by getting to know each other and optimal ways for us to work together. We explore what led to you seeking therapy, and what may have helped you before.
