Great to meet you!

With more than three decades of clinical experience, Dr. Douglas Laipple brings extensive expertise in the evaluation and treatment of psychiatric conditions across diverse patient populations. A decorated Vietnam veteran, he completed his medical training in 1981 and has practiced in military, hospital-based, private-practice, and telehealth settings. Dr. Laipple spent four years as a psychiatrist at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, where he focused on the mental health needs of military service members, and later served as Team Psychiatrist for the Atlanta Braves. His clinical experience encompasses the treatment of depression, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, and other psychiatric concerns. He currently provides psychiatric care through virtual health platforms across multiple regional programs, with an emphasis on accessible, individualized, and high-quality mental health treatment.

My approach to therapy

My approach to psychiatric care begins with safety and understanding the individual patient. I believe effective treatment requires more than identifying symptoms; it requires understanding the patient's history, previous treatment experiences, medical and psychiatric background, current circumstances, and individual goals. I spend considerable time reviewing available prior medical records before meeting with a patient so that I can approach the initial evaluation with a meaningful understanding of their history. From there, I work collaboratively with the patient to develop a treatment approach that is clinically appropriate, practical, and focused on both safety and quality of life.

What you can expect from me

Patients can expect me to be approachable, attentive, and interested in understanding their concerns. The first session is an opportunity for me to learn about you—not simply your diagnosis—including what you have experienced, what treatments have or have not worked in the past, and what you hope to accomplish through treatment. My goal is to establish a comfortable and respectful therapeutic relationship while developing a clear understanding of your needs. Ultimately, I want to help you achieve the highest quality of life possible through thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care.
