Great to meet you!

Whether you’re facing a specific challenge or seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, I aim to tailor our work together in a way that feels empowering, practical, and affirming. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S), a Certified Autism Specialist (CAS), a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and EMDR-Trained. As a professor at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, I teach graduate level courses in both the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) and the School Counseling program. My experience includes working with children, adolescents, adults, families, couples, and groups. I hold a Doctor of Education; note I am not a medical doctor. Through TEA (Texas Education Agency) I hold the following certifications: Superintendent Grades (EC-12), Principal Grades (EC-12), School Counselor (EC-12), Special Education (EC-12), and Bilingual Teacher (PK-6th). I have been in independent private practice since 2014 and in the public-school setting as a bilingual teacher, school counselor, assistant principal, and district student support counselor for 25 years.

My approach to therapy

I take a collaborative, client-centered approach to therapy, grounded in empathy, and respect. I prefer to utilize evidence-based frameworks such as Polyvagal Theory, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) while integrating tools from mindfulness and trauma informed care.

What you can expect from me

I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe to explore their experiences. I view each person as the expert of their own life, and my role is to help decipher patterns, build resilience, and support meaningful change.
