Great to meet you!

Welcome, my name is Michelle Bailey. I am a United States Navy Veteran. I am a private practice practitioner with Bailey's Professional Counseling Services. I have been in the field of mental health for over 20+ years. I earned a Doctoral degree in education and a Master’s degree in counseling. I hold a Florida license in mental health MH8624 and a mental health license in Washington State LH61247158 which has opened doors to assist many clients and their families while imparting knowledge in ways that meet the needs of clients, their families, and the community in which they reside. I specialized in working with both adults and teens who struggles with behavioral, mental/emotional concerns to include traumatic experiences, substance use, mood disorders/ depression, anxiety, loss and grief issues and adjustment concerns; family issues. I believe in the power of cognitive behavioral therapy and take a holistic approach such as learning ways to reconnect ourselves to our natural state of well-being while exploring healthier ways of life coping. Life coping includes adjusting in helpful ways with what life hands us in the present moment. Often, just experiencing the present moment and being heard can help to remove the overwhelming stressful, mental blocks which remove barriers to being able to experience our best life. I can assist in improving your healthy ability to cope with life stressors. I am truly dedicated and honored to collaboratively assist in enhancing your life. In my free time outside of therapy I enjoy dancing, traveling, laughing, and spending quality time with family and friends. Live life to the fullest.

My approach to therapy

Clinical approaches: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Existential Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy

What you can expect from me

In the first therapy assessment session, clients can expect a welcoming and open environment that encourages sharing your story. As the therapist I will guide clients through a detailed conversation about their background, including family history, mental health concerns, substance use history, and current life circumstances—what's often called a psychosocial assessment. The session will be used to also incorporate a consent of service, clinical measures, like functional assessment rating scales, to better understand each client's need. By the end of the session, we will craft treatment goals together and participate in a brief screening of mental status—making sure to assess any urgent concerns. Overall, the goal in the initial assessment session is to create a space where the client feels comfortable, understood, and ready to shape the counseling journey ahead.
