Great to meet you!

Hi! I’m Patti De Barbieri. I’m a Licensed Professional Therapist with 40+ years of experience working in Connecticut. I began my professional life with an interest in child development and family relations which led to my work as a counselor with School Age Children in a K-5 Elementary School. Later, I transitioned to working with adults – College and Graduate level students and Adults in Mid-life around Relationship Issues, Food, Weight, Body Image Issues and Concerns about Self-Worth and Life Transitions. I developed an interest in adult development and have gained a deep understanding of Aging and the complications of Grief and Loss – of friends, family members, spouses and pieces of oneself as we age. My background in Higher Ed. gives me a unique insight into helping people to Set and Achieve Academic and Professional Development Goals. Former clients have described me as providing a Safe, Non-Judgmental, Caring and Comfortable Environment where they feel heard. They have found me to be a Good Listener, Insightful and Knowledgeable.

My approach to therapy

I believe that it is important for me to be real in a counseling relationship and to affirm that change is worth the risk and the effort. Over the years I have developed an indefatigable respect for the human psyche and the traumas individuals can endure and still manage to grow and move forward toward the achievement of their goals. I offer individual Telehealth Services with an Integrative Approach that is grounded in Person Centered Theory and includes Cognitive Behavioral, Behavioral and Rational Emotive Therapies.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is mostly a conversation. I'll ask what brought you here and what you're hoping for - you don't need to have that figured out yet. I believe that each person’s life is a novel if you just listen. I’m genuinely interested in people and I’m interested in their stories. I’d be interested in speaking with you, learning about your story and helping you through whatever life situation you’re struggling with at the moment.
