Great to meet you!

I am a clinician with more than eight years of experience providing mental health services across community mental health, forensic, and correctional settings. My clinical background includes conducting comprehensive psychological and psychosocial assessments, crisis evaluations, risk assessments, treatment planning, and individual, family, and group therapy. Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, personality disorders, trauma-related concerns, substance use disorders, and complex interpersonal and family challenges.

My specialized areas of practice include personality disorders, particularly Borderline Personality Disorder and related interpersonal difficulties, forensic mental health assessment, family systems work, and the treatment of individuals involved in the criminal justice system. I have extensive experience evaluating mental health symptoms, assessing functional impairments, and helping individuals better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships. I also work closely with families to improve communication, establish healthy boundaries, and strengthen support systems.

My educational training includes advanced graduate-level study in psychology with specialized training in forensic psychology, psychological assessment, psychopathology, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions. My approach to treatment is collaborative, compassionate, and practical. I strive to create a supportive environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.

I believe that effective therapy balances insight with action. I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families and tailor treatment to meet each client's unique needs, strengths, and goals.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, direct, and person-centered. I believe that meaningful change occurs when clients feel understood, challenged appropriately, and supported in developing practical skills to improve their lives. I strive to create a therapeutic environment that balances empathy and accountability, helping clients explore underlying patterns while also identifying concrete steps toward their goals.

My clinical work is informed by cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavior, trauma-informed, psychodynamic, and family systems perspectives. I tailor treatment to each client's unique needs, recognizing that no single approach is effective for everyone. I focus on helping clients increase self-awareness, improve emotional regulation, strengthen interpersonal relationships, and develop healthier coping strategies.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect their first session to be a welcoming, collaborative, and nonjudgmental experience focused on understanding their concerns, goals, and reasons for seeking treatment. I recognize that beginning therapy can feel uncomfortable or uncertain, so I strive to create an environment where clients feel respected, heard, and safe discussing difficult topics at their own pace.

During the initial session, I spend time learning about the client's background, current challenges, strengths, relationships, and treatment history. We will discuss what prompted them to seek therapy, explore any symptoms or concerns they are experiencing, and identify areas of life they would like to improve. I also encourage clients to ask questions about the therapy process so they can determine whether my approach feels like a good fit for their needs.
