Hi my name is Larry Blackwell and I’m a licensed clinical social worker who has been providing therapy since 1999. While I use many technical approaches to my therapy my approach is first and foremost very relational. That means that my goal is to create for you a welcoming non-judge mental environment where you feel comfortable addressing your issues.
By creating a welcoming environment, I am usually able to quickly connect with my clients. I often hear that I am very easy to talk with and together we use that relationship to quickly get to the issues causing you distress and what you want to change. Using evidence based techniques I help my clients address a wide variety of issues including, anxiety, trauma, depression, anger, mood disorders, relationship issues and substance misuse to name a few.
During the first session I will spend some time getting to know you and exploring what brings you to therapy. While exploring and addressing the root causes of your behaviors is usually not resolved in one session, I do want clients to walk away from every session with skills they can begin using immediately to help improve the issues they are experiencing.
