Great to meet you!

Hello,

I am Elange Guerrelus, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 20 years of experience working with individuals, families, groups, and couples experiencing with cognitive, behavioral, emotional, and marital difficulties. I am a level 3 Gottman trained couples therapist and a certified parent instructor along with an extensive and great experience in Christian counseling. It will my pleasure to assist you with your mental health needs. Throughout my professional experience, I utilized various psychotherapy methods and techniques to assist children and families experiencing psychological distress to improve their mental well-being. My skill set and experience in this field have allowed me to work in a wide range of settings such as mental health clinics, community health centers, churches, and hospitals.

My approach to therapy

I do work with clients in a supportive, collaborative, and goal-oriented way. My regular style is warm, non-judgmental, and focused on creating a safe space where clients feel comfortable discussing difficult thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. I am fully aware a strong therapeutic relationship is needed for meaningful change, so I place great emphasis on building trust, respect, and be opened mind throughout counseling session.

I mainly use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based strategies, person-centered therapy, and Gottman couple therapy. These approaches help clients better understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact, and they provide practical tools for managing stress, anxiety, and life challenges for individual and couples counseling.

What you can expect from me

During your first counseling session, I will focus on rapport building to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. My goal is to create a comfortable, supportive environment where you feel safe sharing your experiences and concerns at your own pace.
