Great to meet you!

My name is Elia (he/they). I am Arab, queer, and gender expansive. I received my graduate education at NYU. I am an EMDR-trained, licensed psychotherapist, registered art therapist, and PhD candidate.

My cultural intersectionality and background in arts has given me a deep interest in the human experience and the ways we endeavor amid uncertainty and adversity.

I think of myself as a co-investigator, holding a space for you to make meaning, and to be your self—accepted, affirmed, and valued.

My approach to therapy

As an integrative therapist, I work at the intersection of western psychology and eastern practices, bringing a variety of tools—talk, EMDR, art therapies, analysis, and CBT techniques to support each individual's wellness—body, mind, and soul.

I have experience in anti-oppression, social justice practice and I employ principles of empowerment, cultural awareness, and liberation with a range of clients across age, race, ethnicity, culture, disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity.

What you can expect from me

Therapy is a collaborative endeavor: You set aside time for yourself on a regular basis (simple but challenging!) and I hold an affirming, safe, and calm place. As we develop trust, we begin to explore past experiences, emotions, relationships, and potential growth.

I see our work as a navigation tool, like a compass, used to review and chart a map of where you've been, grounding us here and now, and creating a path to the places where you might like to discover next.
