Great to meet you!

Hi! I’m Elise Brau and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Washington, DC. I specialize in working with adults struggling with anxiety, perinatal issues (related to pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, and perinatal loss), life transitions, and grief and loss.

My goal is to help you reduce your symptoms to feel better in the short term, while coming to a greater understanding of who you are, what you value, and what you want in life for greater fulfillment in the long term.

My approach to therapy

I use an integrative client-centered approach to therapy, incorporating evidence-based mindfulness and somatic body interventions, existential questioning, and attachment-based psychodynamic interventions to help clients develop skills to better understand themselves and their relationships, in therapy and outside of sessions.

It’s important to me that I approach clients with sensitivity and care, and I bring a multicultural lens to our work to ensure that I understand who you are and what makes you you.

What you can expect from me

My goal is to create a warm, compassionate, and collaborative environment where you feel safe and comfortable enough to dig deep and figure out what is causing you distress.

I love to ask meaningful questions to help you understand yourself more deeply and profoundly and identify the changes that need to be made so you can live a more fulfilling and authentic life.
