Great to meet you!

I was an educator for almost 14 years when I began my training in clinical mental health. I initially worked with teens and families in intensive in-home therapy. I transitioned to outpatient where I worked with women and men who had histories of abuse. My training and experience have been predominantly in trauma and grief. I have worked with individuals who suffer from mood disorders as well as personality disorders, particularly those with complex traumas and abuse in their histories.

My approach to therapy

My counseling begins with building a safe and strong therapeutic alliance to help clients meet their goals and care for their needs. The client-therapist relationship is a partnership. I support my clients and help them build awareness and personal growth. I believe it is essential to work through past traumas and look at how community and family systems develop identity and, at times, perpetuate behaviors that keep people in a cycle of self-defeat, poor choices, and the feeling of being stuck.

What you can expect from me

I try to work with the whole client; I work with the client to heal, repair relationships, and encourage and support their growth in every area of their lives. I have experience with a variety of mental health issues and can work with any age, couples, and families. I care about my clients and will individualize their care in the context of their cultural, social, and spiritual values.
