Great to meet you!

Elizabeth Aubert, M.A., L.P.C., N.C.C., B.C.-T.M.H., is a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 20 years of experience serving individuals and families on Colorado’s Western Slope. She has extensive expertise in suicide prevention and intervention, trauma recovery, and play therapy, as well as specialized training in EMDR, TF-CBT, and AutPlay. Elizabeth works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, including those navigating chronic health conditions, pain, and dual diagnoses. She is deeply committed to providing affirming and inclusive care for LGBTQ+ and differently abled communities. Her collaborative, compassionate approach helps clients strengthen relationships, transform unhelpful thought patterns, and foster lasting growth and healing.

My approach to therapy

Elizabeth’s approach is collaborative, compassionate, and rooted in evidence-based practices. She integrates play therapy, EMDR, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and AutPlay into her work with children, adolescents, and families. With adults, she draws on approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Gestalt Therapy. She focuses on building resilience, strengthening relationships, and helping clients transform unhelpful thought patterns into healthier ways of living.

What you can expect from me

In the first session, Elizabeth takes a gentle, person-centered approach, focusing on creating a safe and supportive space where clients feel comfortable sharing their story at their own pace. She listens closely to understand each individual’s unique needs, history, and hopes for therapy. Rather than rushing into techniques, Elizabeth prioritizes building trust and connection, ensuring clients feel respected, understood, and valued. She also explains her approach to therapy, answers any questions, and helps clients begin to identify meaningful goals for their healing journey. Clients can expect to leave the first session with a sense of reassurance, knowing they have a compassionate partner walking alongside them toward growth, healing, and lasting change.
