Great to meet you!

I've been a licensed therapist with a wholistic view of therapy for a bit over 12 years. It was a journey to get to the license; prior to that I was a church pastor and a chaplain and one who loved working with young adults and adolescents. I've been through trauma which has given me an interest in trauma and led me to get specialized training in trauma. I have family members and friends in the LGBTQ+ community and I grew up as the child of activists - all people are welcome to me as equally human with human needs and foibles and joys and gifts.

My approach to therapy

You are the expert on you and your issues. Therapy is the process; my training and expertise is here to assist you in finding your way to your own strength through whatever adversity has brought you to this point of needing to learn what it is you need to learn.

What you can expect from me

When you come to me, let's work together to set up a set of goals and plans. A typical treatment plan looks like this: Need creates a long term goal which is broken down into short term Objectives for which we find Interventions or tools to work through to manage the issues. The plan is a living document and if something isn't working or if it doesn't feel right it's not written in stone. It can be tossed as quickly as it is written. You have veto power. On the other hand, if you're willing to try something on the chance that it will work, you never know, maybe this will be the key. On the other hand, I am not willing to work harder than you on your treatment - this is for you, after all. You need to be invested in feeling better. The idea of figuring out a treatment plan and working it (and it can be real work at times) is that in the long run you WILL FEEL BETTER.
