Great to meet you!

Hi there! I'm Elizabeth McAdam, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Perinatal Mental Health Certified therapist (PMH-C). I work with parents and mothers facing challenges like postpartum depression, anxiety, grief, and difficult child behavior.

I specialize in working with women and parents who want better mental health. Perinatal psychotherapy is right for any person on this journey- whether considering parenthood, experiencing loss, infertility, or pregnant and through the earliest years with children up to age five.

Pregnancy and postpartum can stir up unresolved patterns from the past, and I am here to help you notice and understand those parts so you can connect to your truest self and what you truly value the most. I want to help you thrive in all of your roles by helping you connect to your truest self. When you live your life according to your own values, your mental health can thrive.

My approach to therapy

My approach combines somatic healing, which focuses on the connection between your mind and body, with insight-oriented therapy that helps you understand your thoughts and emotions. I bring an inclusive and affirming perspective that values your unique experiences and identities. Together, we'll work on building your emotional strength, and understanding of your personal journey.

Once we uncover where you need support most, we work together to understand how you are feeling, where that may have originated, and how you would like to grow and feel good each day.

What you can expect from me

I work from the belief that you are your own healer and the expert on your life, and my role is to hold space for you to process through experiences and emotions. This process is not always comfortable, but the vision I have for how you feel coming out of therapy is lighter, less burdened than when you came in, hopefully with a new perspective and trust of yourself.

I work by listening closely and offering you space to view your thoughts, emotions and body sensation as parts of you, but not all of who you are. Through this type of mindfulness, anxiety and depression are reduced, and our nervous systems are calmed.

If any of this resonates with you, I would love to talk with you more. It would be an honor to support you on your journey!
