Great to meet you!

I believe that everyone is doing their best at any given time and are motivated to be the best version of themselves possible, although that does not mean that we always know how to get there. Having a therapeutic relationship with a trusted therapist can provide a safe place to process difficult emotions, help identify patterns of thinking and behavior that no longer serve us, or outline goals for the future and develop a plan of action.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). My education includes a Bachelor of Science from Penn State University, a Master of Education in School Counseling from West Chester University, and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Trauma and Resilience from Wilmington University. I have clinical experience ranging from field experience working with children and adolescents within a school setting to 7 years of experience working with adults in substance use treatment programs and their family members.

These diverse experiences have allowed me to develop a passion for working with people to improve their ability to cope with life’s many challenges, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, trauma, grief and loss, substance use, codependency, and family or relationship struggles. I specialize in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Relapse Prevention, Solution-Focused Therapy and Psychoeducation to develop an approach that is individualized for every client.

My approach to therapy

I believe in the importance of both the therapist and the client being active participants in the therapeutic relationship. My therapeutic interaction style is very conversational and I find value in providing honest, compassionate feedback. I feel honored to do this work and am continually in awe of the therapeutic journey and the power of human connection.

I have found the combined approach with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), which includes mindfulness principles, to be incredibly beneficial. This combination allows for identifying and adjusting what can be controlled and then accepting or learning to tolerate what is beyond one’s control. The use of a Trauma-Informed Approach allows me to acknowledge the impact of trauma and help foster a sense of safety through trust, collaboration, and empowerment. I also encourage an ecological systems approach to wellbeing, which highlights the importance of developing and utilizing supportive resources in all facets of life.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, the primary focus will be on gathering information to determine if my knowledge and experience make me a good fit and if you feel comfortable working with me. From there, sessions are much less formal with a focus on building trust and rapport in the therapeutic relationship and focusing on each client’s unique therapy goals. I find great value in having open and collaborative discussions about what is working in therapy and if any adjustments are needed.
