Great to meet you!

Hello there!! I’m Elizabeth Sims and I hold a Master's degree in Counseling. I have a deep passion for supporting individuals facing difficulties with managing challenges. As a young child I felt a natural connection to the elderly and small children, the stories, the innocence, the helplessness. As an adult, I experienced the corporate side of mental health which gave me an inside view of barriers and organizational challenges experienced by clients and clinicians daily. My desire to help was stimulated even more as an educator working with team members and parents of marginalized students for whom I created safe and affirming environments allowing self-discovery and celebration of victories, big and small. Becoming a therapeutic provider felt like a natural evolution of my life...things taught, lived and witnessed. So, I not only bring credentials, but relevant real-world empathy through a trauma informed lens, shaped by experience, a heart to serve, grounded in humility and centered around you. Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, spending quality time with my family, and being outdoors - activities that keep me grounded and balanced.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach is rooted in mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients better understand the connection between thoughts, emotions and behaviors, bring awareness to the present moment, foster self-compassion and emotional regulation. Together, these approaches support lasting change by helping clients gain insight, reduce stress, and build resilience for everyday life.

What you can expect from me

Our sessions will be structured and collaborative purposed to establish an environment of trust, safety and expectations of how we will best work together, set a framework for how we will move forward with future sessions, soliciting feedback for your ideas of how to support you and meet your needs to end with a summary that includes reflection of strengths, personal insight and self-awareness.
