Great to meet you!

I’m Liz, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Founder of Life Happens Counseling LLC in Atlanta, GA. With over 13 years of experience, I help adolescents and adults navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and more. My approach blends evidence‐based therapy with the insight of lived experience, creating a space where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered.

Growing up mostly in Atlanta, GA and later serving as a retired Army combat veteran shaped my perspective on resilience, pressure, and rebuilding after hardship. I know what it feels like to struggle and search for direction, and I bring that understanding into the therapeutic relationship.

In our work together, you’ll find a grounded, real, and compassionate environment where you can explore your story and build practical skills for change.

Healing isn’t about perfection, but rather about learning to move through life with courage, honesty, and confidence. I’m here to walk alongside you as you create a life that feels steady, meaningful, and authentically yours.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, client-centered, and grounded in empathy. I believe that each person is the expert of their own experience, and I work alongside you to better understand your thoughts, emotions, and patterns. I integrate techniques from modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), depending on what resonates best with you. I focus on building insight, developing practical coping skills, and fostering resilience so you can navigate challenges both inside and outside of sessions.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a warm, nonjudgmental environment where we begin getting to know each other. I’ll invite you to share what brings you to therapy, your goals, and any concerns you may have. Together, we’ll start to outline what you’d like to achieve and discuss how we can work toward those goals at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My priority is to ensure you feel safe, respected, and supported as we begin this process.
