Great to meet you!
Emilia Shapiro, LCSW, is a compassionate and dedicated therapist who helps individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges with understanding, empathy, and evidence-based strategies.
With dual master’s degrees—one in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University and another in Clinical Social Work from Hunter College's Silberman School of Social Work—Emilia brings a rich academic foundation to her practice.
Her studies included a specialized focus on obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), which gave her unique expertise in understanding and treating this condition. Emilia works with adolescents, young adults, and adults, addressing a range of mental health issues, including OCD, anxiety, borderline personality disorder (BPD), and relationship challenges.
In addition to her passion for helping individuals with their struggles, Emilia also focuses on helping couples. In her work with couples, Emilia utilizes the Gottman method, recognized as the gold standard for couples counseling. In her work with individuals, Emilia applies these same principles along with evidence-based modalities to help her patients navigate their own personal relationship struggles.
