Great to meet you!

Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, especially when you're trying to balance work, relationships, family responsibilities, and your own emotional well-being. You might find yourself constantly overthinking, putting everyone else's needs before your own, or feeling stuck in patterns you're ready to change. Maybe you're going through a difficult transition or simply want a space where you can talk openly without feeling judged.

Hi, I'm Emily! I'm a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Board-Certified Art Therapist. I work with adults, particularly young adults, women, and individuals navigating anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, family dynamics, self-esteem, and major life transitions. I also enjoy supporting people who struggle with setting boundaries, expressing their emotions, or finding their sense of identity.

I believe everyone deserves a space where they can show up exactly as they are. My goal is to help you feel heard, better understand yourself, and build the confidence to make changes that feel meaningful to you. Whether we're talking things through or exploring your experiences creatively, we'll work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy works best when we work together and find an approach that feels right for you. My style is warm, collaborative, and creative, but I'm also here to help you recognize patterns, challenge thoughts that may be holding you back, and develop practical ways to manage life's challenges.

As a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Board-Certified Art Therapist, I bring experience working with people from different backgrounds who are navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, and major life changes. My approach incorporates Art Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Strength-Based Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).

In our sessions, we might use CBT techniques to explore how your thoughts influence your feelings and behaviors, or take a strength-based approach to recognize the abilities and resilience you already have. Through humanistic therapy, I focus on creating a space where you feel heard, accepted, and empowered to make your own choices. I also use solution-focused techniques to help you identify realistic goals, recognize what's already working in your life, and take manageable steps toward change.

Art therapy is another important part of my work. We might use drawing, painting, or other creative exercises to explore emotions, process experiences, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. You don't need any artistic experience, and we don't have to incorporate art into every session.

Sometimes we'll talk, sometimes we'll create, and sometimes we'll do a little of both. What matters most to me is that you feel comfortable, understood, and actively involved in your own growth.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will be a virtual, one-on-one conversation where we can get to know each other and talk about what brought you to therapy. I'll start by introducing myself, explaining how our sessions work, and answering any questions you might have about the process.

From there, I'll ask about what you've been experiencing, some of your personal history, and what you're hoping to work on. We might talk about relationships, stress, anxiety, or anything else that's been weighing on you. We'll also begin exploring your goals and what you'd like to get out of therapy.

I know meeting a new therapist can feel a little awkward or intimidating, so I don't expect you to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say. There's no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with.

We won't jump straight into making art during our first session unless it feels appropriate and you're interested. My priority is getting to know you, understanding your needs, and making sure you feel comfortable. By the end, we'll have a better idea of what working together could look like moving forward.
