Great to meet you!

My name is Emily Cheruto, and I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-Board Certified (PMHNP-BC) specializing in the care of adolescents, adults, and older adults experiencing a wide range of psychiatric and mental health concerns. I provide individualized psychotherapy and medication management, working collaboratively with each client to develop a treatment approach that aligns with their unique needs, goals, and circumstances. During our first few sessions, clients can expect a welcoming, safe, and nonjudgmental environment where we take time to understand their concerns, establish treatment goals, review their mental health history, and develop a personalized plan for care. My practice is centered on the belief that effective mental health care begins with listening, understanding, and building a trusting therapeutic relationship. I incorporate evidence-based treatment modalities to provide compassionate, comprehensive, and individualized care. I am passionate about this work because I value the opportunity to help individuals feel heard, supported, and empowered as they work toward improved mental health and a more fulfilling quality of life.

My approach to therapy

My approach is client-centered, collaborative, and tailored to your unique needs and goals. I draw from evidence-based practices while recognizing that no two people—or their experiences—are exactly alike. Together, we’ll explore your strengths, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop strategies to support meaningful, lasting change. I believe healing begins with a trusting therapeutic relationship grounded in empathy, respect, and authenticity.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, we’ll get to know one another and discuss what brings you to treatment. I’ll complete a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, including a review of your current symptoms, mental health and medical history, lifestyle, and treatment goals. We’ll also talk about how your symptoms are affecting your daily life and consider treatment options, which may include medication and psychotherapy. My goal is for you to feel heard, understood, and actively involved in your care, with a clear plan and next steps when you leave our session.
